President Joe Biden sat down with ABC’s David Muir to discuss Hunter Biden’s gun trial in an interview published on Thursday.

When asked if he would accept the outcome of his son’s trial, the President of the United States said, “Yes.” He also said “yes” when Muir asked if he would rule out a pardon for his son.

This is something the White House has previously stated. “I’ve been very clear; the president is not going to pardon his son,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in December, per CNN.

81-year-old Joe Biden was also asked about former President Donald Trump‘s recent trial outcome, where he was found guilty on 34 counts related to “hush-money” payments.

“He’s trying to undermine it,” Biden told Muir. “He got a fair trial. The jury spoke.”

As previously reported by The Blast, Trump was on trial relating to a 2016 hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. On Thursday, May 30, 2024, the jury delivered a historic guilty verdict, making Trump the first President to be convicted of a felony.

The former President blamed the Biden Administration for the outcome following the verdict.

“We don’t have the same country anymore. We have a divided mess. We’re a nation in decline, serious decline, millions and millions of people pouring into our country right now from prisons and from mental institutions, terrorists, and they’re taking over our country,” he told media outside of the courtroom.

“This was done by the Biden administration in order to wound, to hurt an opponent. A political opponent,” the 77-year-old continued. “And I think it’s just a disgrace, and we’ll keep fighting, we’ll fight till the end, and we’ll win because our country has gone to hell. We don’t have the same country anymore, we have a divided mess.”

President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, is currently on trial following a four-page indictment accusing him of providing false information on paperwork for purchasing a Colt Cobra revolver in 2018.

The Washington Post reports that the documents allege Hunter falsely claimed he was not addicted to or using illegal drugs, despite knowing this statement to be untrue.

The form that Hunter was required to fill out asked: “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” Hunter marked “no.” However, it is believed he was utilizing drugs at the time of purchase.

The jury selection was completed on Monday, and the 12 jurors, including a substitute teacher, a former Secret Service employee, and several gun owners, are currently listening to multiple witnesses and testimonies relating to the case.

In addition to the gun trial, President Joe Biden’s son is also facing nine federal tax charges — unrelated to the current case.

The federal tax charges come from the Central District of California in a second indictment brought by Weiss’ office. Federal prosecutors allege he engaged in a “four-year scheme” to avoid paying at least $1.4 million in federal taxes.
