Michael Mosley Goes Missing

Last seen at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dr. Michael Mosley was leaving Saint Nikolas beach and is thought to have taken the coastal path back to Pedi.

The 67-year-old did not return from his hike on Wednesday, June 5.

According to his agent, a search and rescue mission remains ongoing for the TV doctor and columnist who went missing while vacationing on the Greek island of Symi.

“It’s like a deep system of tunnels, but it is full of water and can spread for kilometers. There is a reason they call it ‘The Abyss’. There is something very strange going on,” a waiter told The Daily Telegraph.

Dr. Michael Mosley Remains Missing

The public was made aware of Michael Mosley’s disappearance thanks to a post in a Facebook group, which read, “Have you seen this man?” alongside a photo of the TV health expert, per The Independent.

“He set off to walk back from St Nick’s at about 13.30 and failed to make it home,” the post added. “His friends are concerned as it is six hours since they last saw him. His name is Dr Mike Mosley and he is a familiar face for many British people.”

According to The Sunday Times, one of the rescuers said, “The path is not easy to follow. If he took a wrong turn, he would be lost. He could be anywhere. It is a race against time.”

Footage Of The Doctor Released

CCTV footage from a restaurant in the village of Pedi confirms that the television producer arrived in the area roughly 20 minutes after leaving the beach, per The Guardian.

“We now know that he made it to the other side of the path,” an officer noted, per the outlet. “But in some ways the mystery has only deepened. Now we have to ask where did he go from there and if he took another unexpected route (to the port town) did he slip and fall? We’re still no nearer to solving this.”

Michael Mosley’s Family Is Not Giving Up Hope

Despite the fact that Dr. Michael Mosley has been missing for several days, his wife said she would “not lose hope” over the search for her husband.

“The search is ongoing, and our family (is) so incredibly grateful to the people of Symi, the Greek authorities, and the British Consulate, who are working tirelessly to help find Michael. We will not lose hope,” Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley said, per The Independent.

Greek police have said that “nothing at this stage can be ruled out.”

“We are focusing on the area of the path we believe Michael would have taken from the beach in Ayios Nikolaos (St Nicholas) to Pedi, but as so much time has elapsed since he went missing, we have also expanded our search to other parts of the island,” the police said according to the outlet.

An Eerie Similarity To Another Missing Person’s Case

According to The Independent, Michael Mosley’s case is similar to another missing persons case from five years ago.

John Tossell, a 78-year-old man from Bridgend, south Wales, went missing on the Greek island of Zakynthos, vanishing in similar circumstances.

More than 100 rescuers have been involved in the search, per the Sunday Times.
